Pandemonium as thugs disrupt security meeting in Kaduna

Armed thugs numbering about 100 on Monday stormed Arewa House, venue of the Northern region’s security review meeting.

Brandishing weapons, they arrived at the venue at about 11am, carting away valuables, such as mobile phones and destroying properties worth millions of naira.

The event was organised by the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG), with retired military officers, retired police officers, religious leaders, traditional rulers, women, youth and trade associations present.

Chairman of the Coalition, Balarabe Rufai, described those who sponsored thugs as “enemies of the north and Nigeria”.

He said: “Majority had to fly out through the window to escape. We are very confused about what actually transpired.

“I want to assure people that this objective we have of reviewing the security situation in the north, where people are being killed on daily basis, will continue. We cannot fold our arms and watch.
