Police present N7m cheques to families of deceased officers in Kebbi

The Kebbi State Police Command on Thursday presented cheques N7.38 million to six families of police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Kabiru, who presented the cheques to the beneficiaries in Birnin Kebbi, said it was the duty of the force to take care of officers and their families.

” It is my pleasure to welcome you all to the Kebbi State police headquarters, to witness the presentation of cheques from the Inspector-General of Police through the Welfare Scheme and the Group Life Assurance Claim, to the families of officers who died in active service in this state from 2016 to 2018.

“The IGP, Ibrahim Idris is committed to improving the welfare of officers.

“He introduced several welfare packages for the police among which are the Group Assurance Policy and the IGP Family Welfare Schemes to take care of the welfare of serving personnel and the families of deceased officers.

“Today’s event is an assurance to family members of the deceased officers that the force will always take care of its own.

“We cherish and respect the supreme sacrifices those officers made to the command in particular and the nation at large,” he said.

Kabiru used the opportunity to tell politicians, party supporters and political stakeholders that the police were committed to ensuring a free and violent free election in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.

” The force will not condone hate speeches, indecent and criminal defamatory conducts from individuals and groups that can cause threat to public peace and safety, anywhere in the state.

“The full weight of the law will be applied on anyone arrested,” he said.

The recipients commended the Nigeria Police for the gesture.
