Presidency keeps mum as weekly FEC meeting is suspended
The Federal Government on Wednesday put off the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council.
The meeting holds every Wednesday at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
President Muhammadu Buhari presides over the meeting, while Vice President Yemi Osinbajo steps in whenever the President is not available.
As of Wednesday, Buhari was rounding off his official visit to The Netherlands where he participated in the 20th anniversary of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, among other activities.
Osinbajo was, however, in Abuja, as he attended the 10th National Development Summit of Traditional Rulers.
He later conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the floods which affected Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital last Friday.
As of the time of filing this report, no official reason has been given for the cancellation of the meeting.
The last time the meeting was put off was on June 20.
The Presidency had, at the time, attributed the cancellation to the long Sallah break.
