President Buhari mourns Emir of Nasarawa

President Muhammadu Buhari has received with great sadness, news of the passing of Alhaji Hassan Ahmed Abubakar II, the Emir of Nasarawa.

The president, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, in Abuja on Thursday, extended sincere condolences to the late Emir’s family and Nasarawa Emirate Council.

He also condoled with the government and people of Nasarawa State, on the demise of the first class traditional ruler.

President Buhari believed that the late Emir would be long remembered and honoured as “an advocate for peace, dialogue and reconciliation; and a firm believer that a better future awaits Nigeria.’’

He said the best way for friends, close associates and subjects of the monarch to “sustain his legacy is to abhor the things that create divisions in our midst and instead promote tolerance, love and understanding for one another, as a path to national reconciliation and development.’’

The president prayed that almighty Allah would receive Abubakar’s soul and grant his people a worthy successor.
