Technology in Africa has since grown beyond just a buzz word, with the obvious increase in developers, creators and innovators within the sector, it is clear that it’s entrenching its indelible mark in Nigeria.

Despite having still, a less than half number of our population on the internet, the quest to do so much more than product creation but to lead social and economic change persists within our environment.

With the continuous entry of innovation and tech hubs in Africa, it only reinforces the need for more change makers and disruptive entries within the sector. One of those breaking the barriers and creating an enabling platform for the growth of Tech in Nigeria and Africa at Large is The Nest Hub. recently opening its doors to start-ups and creators in tech, creating a space that fosters ideas and collaborations along with learning and leisure, the Nest Hub, brings its own unique kind of disrupt to the Yaba Environs in Lagos.

One of the many platforms this hub provides is the Girl Code Academy. The Academy kicked off this year with induction of over 30 female trainees into its fold. This induction marks the third batch of trainees and graduates. The Girl Code Academy provides free training in software and web application development for Nigerian Women. Some of the graduates from the hub are already gainfully employed as front-end developers or support in tech companies and start-ups and others in internship opportunities to help hone their skills. As the third edition training at the Girl Code Academy begins, it is exciting to imagine the potentials that will be developed and opportunities that await many.
