Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole and members of the Civilian-JTF have killed two insurgents and rescued 16 captives on Monday during a clearance operation along Ngoshe-Agapalawa axis of Borno State.

This was disclosed on Tuesday in Maiduguri on an army twitter handle and facebook accounts.

The twitter handle informed: “In continuation with efforts to finally clear the remnants of BHTs in the Northeast, troops of 82 Division, Task Force Battalion, Ngoshe, in conjunction with members of Civilian-JTF conducted a clearance operation to Agapalawa, Borno State.

“The Agapalawa/Ngoshe axis covers a distance of 10 kilometers and within the Cameroonian border areas with various hill dwellers.

“The gallant troops came in contact with the terrorists and neutralised two of them. However, the other terrorists fled in the face of superior fire power from own troops.”

According to the army authorities, six females and 10 children who were held captives were rescued during operations.

Meanwhile, the army has announced that its School of Military Police, Zaria, Kaduna would conduct annual range classification from Monday to November 23, advising residents to keep-off the area.

The programme is a routine activity aimed at assessing the proficiency of the troops on their weapons handling.
