Afghanistan has been hit by another 6.3 magnitude earthquake.
The earthquake in Herat that occurred on Wednesday morning was officially reported by the Afghanistan country office of the World Health Organization through its X channel.
Additionally, the leading healthcare organization stated that medical professionals were present at the scene to provide medical aid to the injured.
“#Afghanistan woke up to another 6.3 magnitude earthquake today, shaking parts of the western region previously affected by the #HeratEarthquake. Teams are on the ground ensuring the injured get the medical help they need and saving lives,” the post read.
In his reaction, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed his condolences to those who lost their loved ones. He also affirmed that the organization would maintain its commitment to providing medical assistance to the people of the affected country.
“My heart goes out to the people in #Afghanistan who have lost loved ones and have been affected by the multiple earthquakes in Herat.
“@WHOAfghanistan continues to support the Afghan people with essential health care,” he assured.
Previously, a seismic event with a magnitude of 6.3 over the weekend resulted in the destruction of a minimum of 13 villages in the Zindah Jan district of Herat province.
