FMC Abeokuta confirms two new COVID-19 cases, says no cause for alarm

The Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Idi – Aba Abeokuta has recorded two new cases of coronavirus.

The two cases who were adult males presented at the Centre’s Accident & Emergency unit on Saturday 16th May 2020 .

According to a release by Segun Orisajo, Head, Public Relations & Information of the centre, both cases were from Lagos axis.

In adherence to the triage protocol put in place as part of the control measures, the two patients were immediately isolated from other patients.

In confirmation of the earlier suspicion by the care givers, the results of their samples returned a few minutes ago positive.

Arrangements are being finalized for their movement to the Ogun State Isolation Centre, Ikenne.

Reacting , the Medical Director, Prof. Adewale Musa- Olomu reiterated his earlier appeal to members of the public not to panic.

” I wish to remark once again that there was nothing to worry about.
” All our personnel who treated those patients took necessary precautionary measures.
” The Centre at the moment is not in short supply of Personal Protective Equipment for our personnel.
” At the same time we ensure the utmost safety of all patients who come to our Centre for medical and health care services.
” On the latest new cases, I wish to assure our Staff and users of our facility that the Management is on top of the situation ” the Medical Director remarked.
