Furtherance to the malaria elimination campaign, the Ogun State Government has restated its commitment to keep sensitising citizens on how best to use the Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLIN) across the Local Government Areas of the State.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye, who stated this during the state Debriefing LLIN Campaign meeting, held at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, said the State would continue its behavioral change communication, to ensure that nets collected were properly used.

According to him, “there will be a lot of media messages, community information communication, and strategic engagements of community stakeholders, to make sure that those who have collected the nets actually sleep under them every night”.

Dr. Ipaye also submitted that Information Education Communication (IEC) materials would be distributed to people to keep them informed on how they could keep, maintain and replace their nets if damaged.

He advised people who were unable to collect their nets after mobilization and distribution exercise, to visit the nearest Primary Health Centre and log their complaint, assuring that the distribution would get across to everybody, particularly to pregnant women during ante-natal.

The Commissioner also enjoined citizens to play their part in kicking malaria out of Ogun State, by keeping their environment clean and sleep under nets every night, as the nets are insecticidal treated and are not harmful to human health.
