Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has declared that the state will begin to provide free deliveries, including caesarean sections, at government hospitals.
According to Sanwo-Olu, a refund on specific drugs will be provided at all Lagos state government hospitals to aid citizens facing socioeconomic issues.
Governor Sanwo-Olu provided these developments during a recent media encounter with state people today, where he discussed the problems faced since the beginning of his administration.
The revisions are part of the government’s efforts to address significant socioeconomic issues.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu expressed empathy for citizens and disclosed further significant socioeconomic measures in several areas of the Lagos state government.
Beginning next week, State Public Servants will have changed work schedules, with lower-level civil servants working three times a week and level 15-17 personnel working four times per week.
Additionally, Governor Sanwo-Olu declared a 25% cut in transport services for the State Public Transport system, which includes BRT, Train, and Ferry, beginning this weekend. Negotiations with several unions are underway to continue fare reductions.
He also emphasised key accomplishments in completing the rail system and improving transit services in the capital.
The State will also choose caterers and ‘Mama Put’ in each LGA to provide daily meals for over 1,000 people, open Sunday Markets in 42 identified sites, and sell food goods at discounts of up to N25,000.
Discussions with the Federal Government are ongoing to procure two paddy vessels for the Lagos Rice Mill.
Governor Sanwo-Olu challenged the commercial sector to contribute to citizen welfare, similar to initiatives made during the Covid-19 pandemic.
He highlighted the current building of four additional food hubs, as well as planned for seven more locations in various local governments. The State intends to promote urban farming in Lagos.
