Shakira has said she had always hoped to collaborate with Burna Boy on the official 2026 FIFA World Cup song.
The Colombian singer featured alongside the Nigerian Afrofusion star on the track ‘Dai Dai’, which she described as a smooth and natural collaboration process.
Speaking to People magazine, she said Burna Boy’s input elevated the project, calling his contribution the “cherry on top”.
She explained that the song goes beyond football, carrying a message of hope, resilience, and encouragement for children worldwide, especially those facing hardship or limited opportunities.
Shakira added that the track is meant to inspire young people to believe in their dreams while also highlighting the importance of access to quality education.
She also emphasized that the World Cup platform offers a chance to amplify messages about unity and giving children better opportunities, saying society must do more to support their growth and potential.
