After a month of reflection, prayer and spiritual renewal, the festivities of Eid are upon us.

The night before the Eid-ul-Fitr is always a hectic one; kitchens buzz with the clanging of pots and homes are decorated in preparation for the big day.

Children hurriedly prepare their new clothes for the next day and parents rush frantically to ensure that nothing is left unprepared.

This is a celebration that all have been anticipating, young and old alike.

Amidst all the excitement, however, it’s important to remember the spiritual significance of the occasion for Muslims.

Eid is when we rejoice after a month of increased worship, but is also the springboard from which we hope to sustain any blessings gained in Ramadan.

With this in mind, here are a few important things to remember for the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr.
