10 maritime workers abducted along Bonny-Port Harcourt waterway

At least 10 maritime travelers are feared to have been abducted by sea pirates along the Bonny-Port Harcourt waterway.

Although details remain unclear, Channels Television has learned that the incident, which occurred early Monday morning, is believed to involve 10 individuals traveling between Bonny and Port Harcourt.

Confirming the incident over the phone, Israel Pepple, the district Chairman of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria in Rivers State, stated, “It’s not a rumor; it is real. Ten people were kidnapped this morning while traveling from Bonny to Port Harcourt. We have reported the situation to the security agencies.”

When contacted, the police public relations officer confirmed that they were aware of the abduction of 10 people. The Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, has instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Olugbenga Adepoju, along with the relevant Divisional Police Officers, to ensure the victims are rescued as quickly as possible.
