The United Kingdom has several licensed employers currently recruiting skilled professionals from around the world, including foreign workers seeking jobs with work visa sponsorship.
These companies are hiring for roles in high-demand sectors, with some positions offering average annual salaries of about £57,580 alongside visa sponsorship opportunities.
According to data from the UK government’s official website, 168,471 work visas were issued to main applicants in the year ending December 2025. This represented a 19 per cent decline compared with the previous year and a 50 per cent drop from the peak recorded in 2023.
The decline was largely attributed to a fall in applications, which dropped from 228,917 in 2023 to 55,704 in 2025, while visa refusal rates increased from seven per cent to 19 per cent during the same period.
Despite the reduction in sponsored roles, verified job listings show that several companies on the UK’s official register of licensed sponsors are still recruiting for positions eligible under the Skilled Worker visa route.
The Skilled Worker visa allows UK employers to hire overseas professionals for approved occupations listed under the government’s Skilled Occupations framework.
Under current requirements, most applicants must secure a job with a minimum salary of £41,700 per year or the occupation’s prescribed “going rate”, whichever is higher.
However, lower salary requirements apply to certain categories, including new entrants, jobs listed on the Immigration Salary List (ISL), eligible PhD holders and Health and Care visa applicants.
For new entrants, the minimum threshold is £33,400 or 70 per cent of the occupation’s going rate, whichever is higher. Applicants under the Immigration Salary List category require £33,400 or the full going rate, while relevant PhD holders must earn at least £37,500. Health and Care visa applicants have a threshold of £31,300 or higher depending on national pay scales.
