Tajudeen Abbas, the preferred candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been nominated by Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, the outgoing Majority Leader of the House, for the position of Speaker in the 10th House of Representatives.

Ado-Doguwa, who also aspired to the speakership, graciously withdrew from the race to support the party’s chosen candidate.
The motion to nominate Abbas was seconded by Nnolim Nnaji.
