12 illegal miners arrested in Ogun
Twelve illegal miners were detained by members of the Ogun State Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) at Abeku Adekanmbi Village in the state’s Ijebu North Local Government Area.
This was revealed on Monday in a statement by the corps’ director of information and public relations, Moruf Yusuf, on behalf of the state commander of the corps, Soji Ganzallo.
Ganzalo claimed that the illegal miners were apprehended last month while reportedly collecting coal and gold from the earth’s surface.
The corps commander announced that he has directed that a preliminary investigation report be sent to the corps’ state headquarters.
This, he said, was “to further ensure that other accomplices who escaped through motorcycles are brought to book.”
“Meanwhile, the arrested suspects had been transfered to the Nigeria Police, Ijebu-Igbo Divisional Headquarters for onward transfer to the Ogun State Police Headquarter in Eleweran for further investigation and likely prosecution.”
