The Special Military Task Force, Operation Safe Haven, has nabbed 13 individuals in connection with offenses such as kidnapping, banditry, cattle rustling, and other criminal activities in Plateau, as well as regions of Kaduna and Bauchi states.
According to a statement released on Tuesday in Jos by Capt. James Oya, the Media Officer of OPSH, the troops successfully retrieved 279 cows, along with a cache of arms and ammunition.
Oya elaborated that OPSH achieved this significant milestone during an operation conducted between October 2 and October 9. The suspects were apprehended in various communities within the jurisdiction of OPSH’s responsibility.
“Between October 2 and October 9, our troops arrested 13 criminal suspects in connection with kidnapping, prison break, peddling illicit drugs, and rustling.”
“We also recovered illegal arms and ammunition.”
“Troops recovered a total of 279 cows and six sheep over destruction of crops on farmlands across Bokkos, Mangu, Riyom, and Zango Kataf Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Plateau and Kaduna states, respectively,” he said.
The media officer reported that during the specified timeframe, OPSH thwarted the efforts of armed assailants attempting to launch attacks on the communities of Washina and Razak in Mangu and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau.
Oya encouraged residents to lend their support to OPSH in its mission to combat criminal activities and emphasized the importance of abiding by the law.
Furthermore, he reassured the community members that OPSH would remain committed to impartiality and fairness, emphasizing that their primary responsibility is to safeguard the lives and property of law-abiding citizens.
