13-year-old boy drowns swimming in Lagos beach

Tragedy struck as 13-year-old Kelvin Onyengba drowned during a hangout at Alatise beach in the Ajah area of Lagos State.

According to reports that the incident occurred at about 12:00pm on Tuesday.

Additionally, it was reported that the deceased went swimming with five of his friends.

According to a PUNCH, the tragedy took place on February 27, with Kelvin succumbing to the sea’s waves.

The source, “The incident happened yesterday. The mother of the boy said that the wave of the water swept her son. According to her, he went out with five of his friends to swim and hang out, but unfortunately, the boy did not come back to his parents.”

Upon inquiry, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, verified the incident to our correspondent.

Hundeyin mentioned that detectives from the area had visited the scene of the incident, noting that the deceased’s family was still awaiting the recovery of the missing body.

“The scene of the incident was visited by detectives from the division while the family was waiting for the body to emerge from the sea.

Reports state that a Lagos-based prophet, Oriyomi Remilekun, who reportedly drowned during a beach outing in the Ajah area of the state, celebrating Valentine’s Day this year.

Reports indicated that the deceased, accompanied by some youths from his white garment church, visited Avista beach in the area on Saturday, February 17, to mark the occasion. According to a source familiar with the incident, the picnic, which extended into the evening, concluded when Oriyomi’s whereabouts became unknown.
