The Nigeria Police Force has launched disciplinary proceedings against 151 senior officers over various allegations of misconduct and ethical violations, in a move to strengthen internal accountability and uphold professional standards.
Force spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
According to him, the review process began on Monday, 14 July 2025, and will run until Friday, 25 July, at the IGP Smart Conference Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The affected officers, drawn from police commands and units nationwide, are currently appearing before the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) over alleged infractions ranging from professional misconduct to breaches of internal regulations.
Adejobi explained that the FDC is an internal mechanism tasked with reviewing cases involving officers from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and above. The committee examines the allegations, evaluates the evidence, and recommends suitable sanctions in line with existing police rules and disciplinary codes.
“The Force Disciplinary Committee plays a vital role in maintaining standards by adjudicating cases involving senior officers accused of misconduct or ethical violations,” the statement read.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to upholding discipline and professionalism within the Force, stressing that no form of indiscipline would be tolerated.
The Nigeria Police Force restated its resolve to promote integrity, transparency, and public confidence. It added that this disciplinary exercise reflects the IGP’s broader vision of a service-oriented and accountable police institution that upholds the rule of law from within.
