19 dead, N36m property destroyed in Kano fire

At least 19 persons died in fire disasters that occurred in various Kano State locations in the month of November 2022, and N36 million worth of property was destroyed.

Saminu Abdullahi, the state Fire Service’s Public Relations Officer, revealed this in a statement he released on Friday.

Similarly, he claimed that during the time under consideration, military members had preserved property worth N83 million.

Furthermore, he said that 71 people had been successfully saved from many fire disasters that had taken place throughout the state.

According to Abdullahi, the Agency received 76 fire calls, 44 rescue calls, and 16 false alarms during the study period throughout its 27 fire stations.

“We will seize this opportunity to advise the general public to handle fire with care to avoid inferno, more especially during this harmattan period.

“I will like to enlighten the public on the dangers of bush burning. During this harmattan season, bush burning could lead to fire outbreak.”

“Our call to households and shop owners is to always put electrical appliances off when not in use to avoid fire outbreaks,” Abdullahi stated.
