The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with 16 other parties in the country for a merger ahead of the 2023 general elections in Nigeria.

This was revealed by its leader in Abia State and National Treasurer, Okey Udoh.

Speaking with journalists in Umuahia, he said that the party has been in consultation to form MoU called Third Force with about 16 other parties.

According to him, the ADP was one of the strong parties in the country since 2019.

“The party is going for a merger that will produce the best candidates”, Udoh said, adding that “but whenever that occurs, the ADP will not lose its identity.”

Continuing, he said “The ADP can always stand on its own and cannot be swallowed by others who can only come and join. Such alliance will not swallow the identity of ADP.”

Udoh stated that in partnership with state governors, the ADP was trying to build African Diplomatic Institute for research on African democracy that will afford researchers the opportunity to know more about the African model of democracy.

On its congresses, Udoh said the party has done its state and LGA congresses disclosing that by July, the party will consider “consensus election” to avoid problems.

The ADP National Treasurer regretted that in Abia, the state budget is worst managed, stating “Only in the state will leaders go to the Senate to know how our money will be managed.”

Earlier in his speech, the state chairman of the party, Benjamin Arisa informed faithful in the state that they were in for serious business.
