In the southern portion of Nigeria, a group known as the Registered and Eligible Voters Council has stated that only an Igbo President will ensure peace and unity in Nigeria come 2023.

Mr. Godson Oseloke, the group’s Chairman, said in a statement on Sunday that Igbos had been marginalised since the country’s independence.

He said, “We are calling on the Nigerian electorate, especially the southern people, to vote for South-East Presidency in the 2023 general election.
“What this nation needs this time is not the party but a competent Igbo president, who can fix all the wrongs and unite this country again.

“Since independence, the Igbos have remained cheated and marginalised. The entire country is in a disarray in every sector, and for the sake of equity, Igbo man needs to be given a chance and this is the right time.

“Nigeria needs a complete and total positive change in 2023 general election with Igbo President, this will guarantee the peace and unity of Nigeria. Anything different from this will give room for a more secessional voice.”

The group appealed to the entire North, South-South, and South-West to listen to the voice of equity and give the South-East region a chance this time for the peace, safety, and unity of Nigeria, adding that the interest of this country should be seen as first than individual selfish interest.

The group urged every Nigerian under the voting age, who were yet to register or pick their voters, to please do the needful as the Permanent Voter Card is the only authority that qualified them to vote credible leaders into governance come 2023.
