A former minister of petroleum resources, Atuekong Etiebet, claimed that members of the Abak Five political bloc, which is affiliated with the APC and represents the Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial district, had stopped supporting Senator Akpabio and Bola Tinubu’s bids for office.

You may recall that Etiebet, an APC supporter, claimed that regional stakeholders had decided against backing Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem because Akpabio had refused to withdraw his name from consideration for Abak-5’s candidacy.

The stakeholders urged senatorial district citizens to dismiss Etiebet’s speech, calling it self-serving and already irrelevant.

As the meeting’s organizer and a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo revealed in a communique signed with other stakeholders and provided in Uyo on Tuesday that the meeting included APC candidates, 55 ward chairmen, party officials from the old Abak division, and other pertinent stakeholders.

“Stakeholders of the APC in Abak-five notice with profound sadness the false statements made by Atuekong Etiebet that stakeholders in the region had decided not to support Akpabio and query how he arrived at such.

“Stakeholders of APC in Abak-five note with grave sadness the spurious claims of Atuekong Etiebet which noted that stakeholders in the region had reached a resolution not to support Akpabio and questions how he arrived at such.

“We reject the purported resolution by Atuekong Etiebet that Abak-five should support a candidate of another political party other than APC. We view this reckless decision as an anti-party act that should not be condoned under any guise.

“As APC members from Abak-five, we disassociate ourselves from the statement credited to Atuekong Etiebet that Abak-five will support the senatorial candidate of PDP in the forthcoming National Assembly elections scheduled for February 25 with particular reference to the candidacy of Akwa Ibom North West senatorial district,” the statement read in part.

They expressed their support for Tinubu, the party’s presidential candidate, as well as Akpabio.

“We, the stakeholders of APC from Abak-five endorse all candidates of APC beginning with Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President; Obong Akanimo Udofia as Governor; Senator Godswill Akpabio for Senate; all House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates of APC.”

The stakeholders request that Etiebet be punished for engaging in anti-party actions from the party’s national chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the state chairman, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo, and other party leaders.
