The 2023 Batch ‘A’ Stream I corps members have been urged by Mrs. Ada Imoni, the Gombe State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, not to get embroiled in partisan politics as the country gears up for the general elections in 2023.
During her debriefing at the NYSC temporary orientation camp in the state’s Amada region, she made this clear.
She insisted that as ad hoc employees of the Independent National Electoral Commission, corps members had an obligation to offer their all.
“It is pertinent that you do not drag the good name of the scheme in the mud by taking bribes or conniving with politicians to mar the quest for a successful election. For as many of you that will be participating, I call on you to make us proud by giving free, fair and credible elections, by the grace of God,” she said.
The NYSC coordinator explained that arrangements had been made with the Gombe Line and Gombawa Transport Motors to transport corps members to their sites of main assignment and states of relocation as necessary while discussing the cashless policy.
“Transport fares will be paid through their Point of Sale machines to ease the stress of the cashless policy,” the coordinator announced.
According to her, posting was completed based on the four crucial pillars of the program—agriculture, rural development, education, and healthcare provision.
Imoni delivered a speech to the corps members on topics like as communication channels, hate speech, and respect for the customs and cultures of their host communities.
According to reports, not less than 839 corps members attended the briefing.
