2023 Elections: Obi acknowledges campaign list errors, promises updated list soon

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, said on Friday that his Presidential campaign council list contained some “erroneous entries.”

The previous governor of Anambra State likewise also pledged to examine and update the list.

The Presidential aspirant underlined his dedication to openness and accountability in a series of posts on his Twitter account on Friday.

He wrote, “I’ve received several calls of concern following the release of the Labour Party’s Presidential Campaign Council list. Admittedly, there were some omissions and erroneous entries in the list, hence the concerns expressed.

“In response, the Labour Party Chairman in the presence of members of the NWC addressed the issues during a press conference. In keeping with our commitment to accountability, responsiveness and transparency, an updated list will be issued in due course. I plead for patience. -PO”

The LP leadership had an emergency meeting on Thursday to address the criticism that followed the inclusion of some names as well as the exclusion of some candidates proposed by members of its National Working Committee in its Presidential Campaign Council.

According to reports, there were differences inside the party about the council’s unveiling on Wednesday.

Only a day after the PCC’s inauguration, some of the people on the list drew criticism.

Major General John Enenche, a former Director of information at the Nigerian Defense HQ, was one of them.
