2023: Lagelu/Akinyele PDP Leaders Back Raufu’s Candidature for House of Representatives

The aspiration of former Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of National Mirror Newspapers, Dr. Abiodun Raufu to become a member of the House of Representatives representing Lagelu/Akinyele Federal Constituency under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received a boost as the leaders of the party in both local government areas have pledged their support for his political ambition.

The leaders including ward chairmen and their executives, councillorship candidates and other stakeholders from the fourteen (14) wards of Lagelu local government made the pledge to support Dr. Raufu at a meeting held on Tuesday at Yemi Ola Hotel, along Iwo Road-Iyana Church, Ibadan in Lagelu local government.

It could be recalled that similar meeting was held with the leaders of the party in Akinyele local government few weeks ago where the leadership of the party and stakeholders in twelve (12) wards also pledged their support for Dr. Raufu’s House of Representatives aspiration.

The party leadership in both local governments maintained that Dr. Raufu’s leadership qualities, educational qualifications, extensive connection, maturity and human relations and knack for development informed their decision to support and work for his emergence as the candidate of the PDP in Lagelu/Akinyele federal constituency for the upcoming 2023 election.

According to them, “Raufu is a natural leader who has extended the hand of friendship to all sectors of the constituency. He has what it takes to lead Lagelu/Akinyele federal constituency towards prosperity.

“He has the skill to discover talent, strategies to uplift the constituency in the area of economic growth and development as well as having the ability to consolidate on the tremendous achievements of Governor Seyi Makinde in the constituency.”

The leaders disclosed that mobilisation was already on, and called on lovers of Lagelu/Akinyele federal constituency to support the movement.

Dr. Raufu who was also former editor of Nigerian Tribune is now an Assistant Professor at the Southern University and A&M College in the United States of America.

A veteran journalist and experienced business administrator, Dr. Raufu’s extensive connections spanning three decades cuts across Nigeria and several countries across the world.
