2023: Lagos, MC Oluomo denies sale of campaign stickers to raise fund
The Lagos State Government has denied forcing the motoring public to purchase stickers to raise funds for the campaign of the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu.
A statement by the state Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde, said the stickers were neither created nor circulated by the ministry nor any agency of the government.
He urged stakeholders, especially those providing public transportation, to report anyone caught selling the stickers in the name of the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation.
A viral video had shown some commercial tricycle operators being forced to buy stickers that bear the pictures of the Chairman, Lagos State Park and Garages Management Committee, Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo; Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; and the APC presidential candidate, Tinubu.
A road transport officer was seen enforcing the purchase of the stickers on a tricycle rider, who protested the move.
The incident reportedly happened in the Ikeja area of Lagos.
Akinsanya, in a statement on his Instagram page, denied authorising the sale of the stickers.
He said, “I did not know anything about the said sticker, and neither did I sanction the sale. I would appreciate additional information as regards the location where the incident happened so that we can conduct a thorough investigation.”
