Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s candidate for President, opened an official website on Friday to publicize his political campaign and raise money ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
The declaration was made in a tweet sent from the former governor of Anambra state’s verified Twitter account.
Obi revealed that donations from willing donors may also be made using the platform as he urged his followers to visit the Obi-Datti Campaign organization’s official campaign website.
He tweeted, “I invite every member of the OBIdient Family, and every supporter of our march to a new Nigeria to visit. You can use that medium to support and donate in cash & kind to the campaign.
“Later today, I’ll be speaking at Oxford University on “Trends and Prospects of Nigeria’s Economy: Broader Implications for Africa’s Development.
The news comes two days after worried Nigerians expressed concerns that Obi’s campaign was being stalled by his constant contact with people abroad.
The LP leadership announced that Julius Abure, the party’s flagbearer and its chairman, could not attend the inauguration of the presidential campaign council.
Both Obi and Abure are currently participating in political gatherings and events sponsored by some Nigerian expatriates.
The campaign council’s charter is being examined, according to Abayomi Arabambi, the party’s national publicity secretary, who spoke to our correspondent in Abuja on Tuesday.
Arabambi clarified that the candidate and party chairman must both be present in order to announce an inauguration date.
