The nominees for the highly anticipated 2025 BET Awards were announced on Thursday, May 8, 2025.
Among the global talents recognized are five Nigerian Afrobeats sensations: Burna Boy, Tems, Rema, Ayra Starr, and Shallipopi.
Ayra Starr leads the Nigerian contingent with three nominations, including Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Best New Artist, and Best International Act.
Tems follows with two nods in the BET Her category for her inspiring tracks, Burning and Hold On.
Burna Boy, Rema, and Shallipopi each secured a nomination. Burna Boy was recognized in the Best Male Hip-Hop Artist category, Rema for Best International Act, and Shallipopi for Best New International Act.
American rapper Kendrick Lamar topped the overall list with an impressive 10 nominations, trailed by Drake, Future, Doechii, and GloRilla, who each earned six nods.
The winners will be unveiled during the live ceremony on June 9, 2025, at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, with the event broadcast on BET.
