Former governor of Imo State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha has announced that the African Democratic Party (ADC) plans to begin door-to-door sensitisation with the goal of taking over the state in the 2027 general elections.

Ihedioha made this known on Saturday at the party’s state congress held at the Kanu Nwankwo Sports Complex in Owerri. The former governor revealed that over 200,000 individuals have registered with ADC in the state. He also expressed confidence that the party’s newly elected officials will perform effectively in pursuing this objective.

In his remarks, the state party leader and former two-time governor, Chief Achike Udenwa, stated that Imo is one of the party’s strongest chapters nationwide. He pointed out that the ward and local government congresses were conducted peacefully, describing the process as commendable.

He encouraged members to stay dedicated to the party’s ideals and its mission to improve Imo.

National Vice Chairman of ADC (South East), Sir Bon Unachukwu, said the congresses have laid the groundwork for an expected victory in the upcoming elections in Imo. He added that the ward and local government congresses were peaceful and orderly.

The party, through a voice affirmation vote, reelected Prof. James Okoroma as Chairman. Barr Gregory Ihejirika was chosen as State Secretary, while MacDonald Amadi was elected as Publicity Secretary, along with other officials.
