Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Monday led a delegation to visit his former boss, ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, at the former leader’s hilltop residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The delegation included former Cross River State Governor Liyel Imoke, Senator Abdul Ningi, and Senator Aminu Tambuwal, a former governor of Sokoto State.

While the purpose of the meeting remains undisclosed, it comes amidst ongoing efforts by opposition politicians to strategize on defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election.

Atiku served as Obasanjo’s deputy from May 1999 to May 2007. A former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023, Atiku finished second to President Bola Tinubu of the APC. At 78, Atiku has pursued the presidency for over three decades.
