Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has obtained the All Progressives Congress’ N50 million governorship nomination form ahead of the 2027 Bauchi State election.
A video posted on Wednesday by Imran Mohammed, Senior Special Assistant on New Media to APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, captured Tuggar signing documents before party officials formally handed over the nomination form.
Tuggar had previously announced his intention to contest the governorship seat, saying his aspiration would deepen healthy competition within the party rather than cause disunity.
“This is not just my ambition; it is a collective mission to move Bauchi State forward,” he said during a visit to the APC secretariat in Bauchi last week.
The former minister stepped down from office in March 2026 following President Bola Tinubu’s directive requiring political appointees seeking elective positions to resign.
He stressed that loyalty and unity within the APC remain key principles guiding his ambition.
Tuggar also promised to support whichever candidate emerges victorious in the party’s primary election, adding that he would not take legal action against fellow party members.
According to him, his governorship bid is aimed at tackling major challenges facing Bauchi State, including poverty, unemployment, insecurity, and shortcomings in education and healthcare.
He further pledged to focus on agriculture, small and medium enterprises, and solid minerals development, while assuring residents of improved security, prompt salary payments, and better access to quality education and healthcare services.
