Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election, Obafemi Hamzat, is set to unveil his manifesto on Friday, October 30, detailing his plans for the state if elected governor.
Hamzat, who is contesting alongside his running mate, Damilola Sonayon-James, outlined his key priorities in a statement shared on his X account on Tuesday ahead of the manifesto presentation.
He said his agenda would focus on sustaining Lagos’ development, tackling areas that require further improvement and expanding opportunities for residents.
“My focus is to sustain our progress, address areas that need more attention and create opportunities for every Lagosian to thrive. The future of Lagos must put people first and our plans must reflect their hopes, concerns and everyday realities,” he said.
Among his priorities are completing and connecting rail lines, improving road and water transportation, increasing access to affordable housing, enhancing security and upgrading healthcare services across the state’s 57 local government areas and local council development areas.
The APC candidate also identified education, skills acquisition and employment generation as key components of his vision, stressing the need to equip young people with the knowledge, technology and practical skills required to succeed.
Hamzat pledged to support entrepreneurs and small businesses, promising to promote equal access to opportunities irrespective of residents’ backgrounds, gender, religion or place of origin.
On environmental sustainability, he promised improved waste management, flood control measures, better drainage systems and stronger protection for coastal communities.
He further highlighted accountable governance, support for traders and businesses, and the efficient management of public resources to ensure residents receive value for government spending.
“Building on the foundation laid by successive administrations, we must protect what works, improve what needs attention and embrace ideas that meet Lagos’ changing needs,” he said.
Hamzat expressed his commitment to building a safer, more accessible, prosperous and inclusive Lagos, where opportunities extend to every community and residents play an active role in shaping the state’s future.
“Together, we will build on our progress and move Lagos forward with purpose, accountability and the people at the centre of every decision. That is my PROMISE,” he added.
The manifesto presentation is scheduled for 3pm to 5pm on Friday at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, formerly known as the National Arts Theatre, in Iganmu, Lagos.
