Rinsola Abiola, Director-General of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre and daughter of the late Chief MKO Abiola, winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, has stated that President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election will be “decisive, emphatic and resounding.”

She described Tinubu’s administration as arguably “the most youth-friendly government in the country’s history,” highlighting its efforts to promote youth inclusion in governance and secure the nation’s future for young people.

Abiola, who also serves as Ogun State Coordinator of the City Boy Movement—a socio-political group established to mobilise support for Tinubu’s second-term bid—praised the President for leaving “no stone unturned in his efforts to move the country forward,” echoing the vision her late father had during his 1993 campaign.

Speaking in Abeokuta on Friday, during the inauguration of City Boy Movement executives and distribution of food palliatives to over 5,000 households across Ogun State, she urged Nigerian youths to rally behind Tinubu, stressing that his dedication to youth empowerment—given that they make up about 70 per cent of the population—has been unprecedented.

“There are countless young people working in different capacities under the government of President Tinubu, and we have seen similar developments at the state level as well,” Abiola said. “The President has also rolled out several programmes, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, among others, to strengthen the future of the youth. Mr President believes strongly in the future of young people in this country.

“So everything being done in terms of moving the country forward, revamping the healthcare sector and re-engineering the economy is aimed at safeguarding the future of the youth. That is why we say this government is the most youth-friendly.

“The youth, therefore, have every reason to rise up as a movement and ensure the success of the President’s second-term bid. It is already becoming clearer that President Tinubu’s second-term victory will be decisive, resounding and emphatic because the opposition is nowhere to be found.”

Abiola also drew a connection between her father’s 1993 presidential campaign slogan, “Hope ’93,” and President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” noting that Tinubu, a loyal ally of her late father, is working to restore hope in the nation. She expressed confidence that Tinubu’s second term will continue to elevate the country.

The City Boy Movement distributed food palliatives to over 5,000 residents in Ogun State during the ongoing Christian Lenten season and Ramadan, reflecting the group’s commitment to youth empowerment and community support.

Barrister Abeeb White, Deputy Coordinator of the movement, emphasized that the gathering and distribution aimed to unite Muslims and Christians while encouraging youth engagement in the political process. “It is clear to everyone that President Tinubu is working diligently to support the youth and create a better future for all. It is therefore appropriate for the youth to come out in their millions to vote for President Tinubu for another term in 2027 so that the ongoing economic reforms can be consolidated,” he said.

Olamide Lawal, Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Youth Affairs, also urged youths to back Tinubu’s re-election, noting that the All Progressives Congress has consistently demonstrated its commitment to empowering young Nigerians.
