Ogun West Senatorial District has said it has resolved to build more political bridges across Ogun Central (the Egba) and Ogun East (the Ijebu and Remo), ahead of 2027, to enhance the chances of the zone producing a successor to Governor Dapo Abiodun.

The district, which has not produced a governor since the creation of Ogun State 48 years ago, said it had become necessary and imperative to incorporate stakeholders from other zones in Ogun West’s 2027 aspiration and solicit their support to ensure success.

That was the consensus of positions expressed at Asade Agunloye Pavilion, Ilaro, the headquarters of Yewa South Local Government, by the people of the area and their associates from other senatorial districts, in their goodwill messages at an event organised to celebrate Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola’s 55th birthday. The ceremony, organised by members of the senator’s constituency under the aegis of 55th ‘Appreciation’ Birthday Contact Group, also witnessed distribution of start-up packs and empowerment kits facilitated by Senator Adeola, to over 1,500 beneficiaries.

Stressing the need to reach out to other “political gladiators” from the East and Central, in furtherance of Ogun West’s quest for the governorship seat in 2027, the Eselu of Iselu Kingdom, Oba Ebenezer Akinyemi, hoped that the zone would produce a governor for the state notwithstanding the odds against it.

The monarch said Ogun West would continue to work and solicit the support of gladiators from other senatorial districts, to accomplish the quest for an Ogun West’s indigene to become the governor.

He added: “We will work with political gladiators. I’m convinced that one day; Ogun West will have someone as governor at Okemosan Governor’s Office.”

He described Yayi as a genius, a ‘bulldozer’ and a rare gift, stressing that when his name is mentioned; it resonates in the state and beyond. According to him, it is an attestation that Ogun West people have arrived politically.

Also, a former federal lawmaker, Adekunle Adeyemi, who hails from Ogun Central, urged the people to bring members of other sections of the state into the project and solicit their support.

He said the issue was about producing governor of Ogun State and not governor for Ogun West only.

According to the former House of Representatives member, if it would take plea for Ogun West to produce the next governor, the zone should not hesitate to beg other sections for their support, to accomplish the aspiration.
