2027: Ondo senator urges aggrieved APC members to embrace reconciliation, unity

The senator representing Ondo North Senatorial District, Olajide Ipinsagba, has urged dissatisfied members of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State to accept the outcome of the party’s primary election and prioritise unity.

The primary exercise has sparked controversy in the state, with some party supporters protesting in Akure over the list of National Assembly candidates released by the party’s National Working Committee and submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The protesters alleged that the candidates announced by the NWC did not reflect the results of the National Assembly primaries conducted in the state.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Ipinsagba appealed to party members to put their differences aside and work together ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The lawmaker said the outcome of the primaries should unite members in support of the re-election bid of Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates contesting National Assembly and state House of Assembly seats.

He said, “I want to appeal to all our party members across Ondo North Senatorial District and Ondo State in general to close ranks, embrace reconciliation, and work collectively towards securing greater victories for our great party in future elections.

“We have the presidential, National Assembly and state House of Assembly elections next year. We need to be united to face these elections and achieve victory.

“Unity remains the strongest pillar for sustaining our great party’s electoral successes and delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.”

Ipinsagba also praised President Tinubu for what he described as political wisdom displayed during the APC nomination process, saying it demonstrated the President’s commitment to democracy, fairness and party unity.

He urged stakeholders to continue supporting the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, expressing optimism that the administration would continue to “implement policies that will foster national development, economic prosperity, and enduring peace across Nigeria.”

The senator further thanked party leaders, delegates, political allies, grassroots supporters, youths, women and other constituents across the six local government areas of Ondo North for their backing during the recent primaries and throughout his tenure in the Senate.

“I will continue to remain accessible to my constituents and committed to advancing policies and programmes that will enhance socio-economic development, improve infrastructure, empower the youth and women, and promote the overall welfare of the people of Ondo North,” the senator pledged.
