223,000 Job opportunities created by my administration says Okowa
Governor of Delta state, Ifeanyi Okowa, his said that his administration has so far generated over 1,300 indirect employment in addition to 12,000 businesses and 223,000 direct jobs.
To increase agricultural production in the state, Okowa gave farmers a check for more than N14 million, fertilizers, agrochemicals, and a knapsack sprayer.
Okowa pleaded with the recipients not to sell the farm inputs that had been handed to them through his Chief Staff, Mr. Festus Agas.
He said, “The Primary aim of every government is to make life better for its citizens and that is what my administration has done.
“For over seven years, I have kept my promise in empowering youths in agriculture. My administration has established over 12,000 entrepreneurs, created direct jobs of over 223,000 and over 1,300 indirect jobs.
“I beg you not to sell these items given to you today because we have had a situation where some people sell their items. So, I urge you to make use of these items judiciously.”
Prof. Eric Eboh, the state’s Chief for job and wealth creation, revealed in his remarks that each beneficiary received farm input support packages that included agrochemicals, knapsack sprayers, fertilizers, and monetary assistance of N100,000 for field labor.
He stated that the distribution, which started in Asaba, will also go to Agbor, Oghara, Eku, Ughelli, Oleh, and Amukpe, covering a total of 142 brown YAGEP recipients in cassava.
