No fewer than 30 passengers lost their lives in a tragic road crash on Saturday evening at Mile 49, along the Lagos-Ore Expressway near Ore in Odigbo Local Government Area, Ondo State.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in Ondo State, Samuel Ibitoye, confirmed the incident on Sunday.
He revealed that at least 30 victims were burnt beyond recognition following a head-on collision between two vehicles.
According to Ibitoye, the crash resulted from excessive speeding and traffic violations, which led to the devastating collision.
He expressed regret over the loss of lives and urged drivers to exercise patience on highways to prevent such tragedies.
The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the General Hospital mortuary in Ore, while two survivors with severe injuries are receiving treatment at the same facility.
