On Sunday evening, a powerful explosion occurred during a gathering of Islamic Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F party members in the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, resulting in at least 44 fatalities and over 100 people injured.

The next morning, the marquee in the town of Khar was in ruins, with mangled and charred remains, and blood-soaked carpets, along with around 400 upended red chairs scattered around the area.

“Upon arriving at the scene, I was confronted with a devastating sight,” Khar resident Fazal Aman, 29, said on Monday.

“Lifeless bodies scattered on the ground while people cried out for help.”

Various party items, such as hats and scarves in JUI-F’s distinctive black-and-white branding, were left behind and crushed into the dusty ground, some of them stained with dried blood.
