Abducted Kogi Chief Imam regains freedom

The Chief Imam of Iyara in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Sheikh Quasim Musa, has been released from captivity by his abductors.

Sheikh Musa was abducted by unidentified gunmen on Monday, March 25, 2024, from his residence in Ilukpa, Iyara, which serves as the headquarters of Ijumu Local Government Area.

The assailants reportedly arrived in a commando-style manner, firing shots into the air before seizing the Sheikh and fleeing to an undisclosed location.

SP William Aya, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, verified the Imam’s release on Saturday morning through a brief message relayed to our correspondent.

The message read, “This is to inform you that, the Chief Imam of Iyara Central Mosque Alhaji Qosim, who was earlier kidnapped regained his freedom yesterday night.”
