A Director with the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue, who was kidnapped last month, has regained his freedom.
Dr. Aribibia Fubara, who was abducted on Saturday, August 24th, at the Okrika waterfront near the Marine Base area of Port Harcourt, has been released.
Reports indicate that Dr. Fubara was freed shortly after midnight last Thursday on one of the smaller islands near Bonny, although he was not reunited with his family until Friday, September 6, 2024.
A family member, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed his release and disclosed that a ransom of ₦15 million was paid to secure his freedom.
Dr. Fubara was held captive for a total of 12 days before being released.
At the time of this report, the state Police Command has scheduled a briefing where the Commissioner of Police is expected to address his release and other related matters.
