Laila, the daughter of Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president of Nigeria, has tied the knot with Saleh Maitala, her partner.

The lovers tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at the national mosque in Abuja with family members and friends in attendance.

The bride was adorned in a flowy heavily beaded dress alongside a veil with lots of pearls while the groom was clad in a black native Babban Riga and cap.

Atiku, who was dressed in all-white native attire at the event, took to his X page to express excitement over his daughter’s wedding.

The former vice president wished the couple a blissful married life. He also appreciated those who attended the event.

“The joy of giving away a daughter in marriage supported by family and friends is priceless. I wish Laila and her husband, Saleh Maitala, a blessed marriage,” he wrote.

“My gratitude also goes to all the dignitaries, associates, and friends who honoured my family with their presence at the wedding Fatiha in Abuja today.”

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections; Umar Ganduje, ex-Kano governor; and former Kaduna governor Nasir el-Rufai were among the prominent persons who attended the event.

Others included Abdulsalami Abubakar; former head of state; Sule Lamido, former governor of Jigawa; and Iliya Dammagum, the acting national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
