The decapitation of an Assistant Superintendent of Police in Aba on Tuesday was verified by the Abia State Police Command.

Geoffrey Ogbonna, the State Public Relations Officer, characterised the behaviour as heinous and strongly condemnable.

He appealed for reliable information on the culprits or anyone caught in possession of a gun that might have been obtained illegally.

“The dastardly act is highly condemned and the public is enjoined to help with credible information on the perpetrators or anyone found with a firearm suspected to have been unlawfully obtained,” Ogbonna said.

He said the “protection of identity” of the informant(s) is assured.

In retaliation for their kingpin being shot dead by the police on Sunday, April 23, 2023, hoodlums beheaded the Aba police superintendent early on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, and threatened that the residents and police in the area will know no peace.
