Abiodun mourns ex-Ogun Commissioner, Yemi Adefulu

The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun has mourned the demise of the former two-time Commissioner in the state and incumbent Chairman, Governing Council of Tai Solarin College of Education, now Sikiru Adetona College of Education, Science and Technology, Yemi Adefulu.

Adefulu who hails from Ilishan Remo in Ikenne Local Government was an erudite lawyer and former student leader at the University of Lagos around 1971. He reportedly died in the early hours of Saturday at age 79.

He was said to be the youngest commissioner in the history of the state during the administration of the first civilian governor, Bisi Onabanjo, between 1979 and 1984.

He was the first Commissioner for Forestry and was later redeployed to the Ministry of Health.

Abiodun, during his condolence visit to the residence of the deceased at Shonibare Estate, Maryland, Lagos on Sunday, described the passage of the renowned politician as a big loss to the state and the country as a whole.

In a post picked from the verified Facebook page of the governor on Sunday, Abiodun described Adefulu as an exemplary figure, renowned for his legal expertise and unwavering commitment to Nigeria.

Abiodun said “I paid a visit to the family of Prince Yemi Adefulu, MFR, who held the esteemed position of Chairman of the Governing Council of Sikiru Adetona College of Education, Science, and Technology, Omu-Ijebu, to extend my heartfelt condolences.

Prince Adefulu was a distinguished legal practitioner, a revered statesman, and an experienced litigator, whose recent passing has left a profound void.

“In my sincere message of condolence, I conveyed my deepest sympathies to his bereaved family, the Ilishan community, and the esteemed Governing Council of Adetona College of Education, Science, and Technology, Omu-Ijebu.

“I emphasised that Prince Yemi Adefulu, MFR, was an exemplary figure, renowned for his legal expertise and unwavering commitment to Nigeria. His remarkable contributions to his profession, community, and entire state will forever be cherished and held in high esteem.
