A train traveling from Kaduna to Abuja derailed at Jere, Kaduna, an hour after its journey began on Sunday.
The train, carrying dozens of passengers, departed from Kaduna at around 8:05 am.
Reports indicate that three carriages skidded off the tracks.
Security operatives, including members of the Nigeria Police and Army, are present at the site to provide support.
The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) confirmed the incident and disclosed that some of its personnel have been dispatched to investigate.
”NSIB is aware of a derailment of an Abuja-bound train from Kaduna which occurred halfway into the journey at Jere.”

The Nigerian Railway Corporation(NRC) has yet to confirm the incident.
