The Acting Director-General of the FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Florence Wenegieme, has confirmed that no lives were lost in the overnight building collapse in the Garki area of Abuja.

The collapsed building, a four-storey structure, was undergoing renovation at the time, according to Wenegieme.

Eyewitness reports shared with Channels Television indicated that most construction workers had already concluded their work for the day before the building collapsed.

Officials from the emergency management agency attributed the incident to the contractor’s failure to comply with directives from the Abuja Development Control Authority to halt construction.

The agency further reported that three individuals were rescued from the site with minor injuries and have since been treated and discharged from the hospital.
