The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has suggested that the Abuja light rail project is approaching 95% completion. He stated that the project is expected to be officially inaugurated in May, with President Bola Tinubu presiding over the ceremony.
The minister revealed this information during a courtesy call by the Belgium Ambassador to Nigeria, Pieter Leenknegt, at his office in Abuja on Thursday.
During the meeting, Leenknegt expressed concerns regarding alternative transportation options for residents of the FCT.
The minister further emphasized his administration’s commitment to finding a lasting solution to eliminate open grazing in the nation’s capital.
Wike clarified that addressing this issue requires a patient approach, as the cattle rearers involved are indigenous to the FCT.
