Adamawa boat accident claims eight lives, seven missing

Dr. Suleiman Muhammad, the Executive Secretary of the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), has verified that a tragic boat accident occurred at Njuwa Lake in Rugange village, Yola South Local Government Area (LGA) of the state. The incident resulted in eight casualties, eight individuals were successfully rescued, and seven others remain unaccounted for.

Suleiman confirmed this in a Saturday interview with newsmen in Yola.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Friday.

The Executive Secretary said “So far we have recovered eight dead bodies, rescued eight persons and we are still searching for about seven others.

“Their boat capsized due to bad weather, there was a thunderstorm actually about the time they got on the boat,” he said.

According to him, the agency is still in the process of identifying all crossing points in the state in order to provide life jackets for passengers, as directed by the state Deputy Governor, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta.
