Adamawa man kills friend for demanding N1,500 loan

Aliyu Hammanseyo, a middle-aged man from Mubi North Local Government Area in Adamawa State, has been remanded for reportedly stabbing his friend to death over N1,500.

Hammanseyo, who was arraigned before the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Yola for the alleged offence, was remanded.

The police prosecutor, ASP Francis Audu, who read the charge sheet before Magistrate Muhammed Abubakar, stated that on June 7, 2022, Hammanseyo fatally stabbed the victim, Bilham Babangida, with a knife.

During interrogation, he also said the defendant admitted stabbing Babangida in the chest.

According to the indictment, the defendant owed N1,500 to Babangida.

When the victim sought to get the money from his friend, he was allegedly attacked.

The prosecutor urged the court to retain Hammanseyo in custody.

The Chief Magistrate, Muhammed Abubakar, adjourned the case until 14 July 2022 and remanded the defendant.
