ADC rolls out 2026 primaries timetable, pegs presidential form at ₦100m

The African Democratic Congress has released its official timetable for the 2026 primary elections, presenting a detailed schedule designed to promote transparency, internal democracy, and adherence to electoral rules.

The party announced that nomination forms will be available for purchase from May 5 to May 10, 2026, while completed forms are to be submitted between May 11 and May 13.

Screening of aspirants will take place from May 14 to May 15, with the results set to be published on May 17. Any appeals from the screening process will be handled between May 18 and May 19, and the final list of cleared aspirants will be made public on May 20.

Primary elections are scheduled to begin on May 21, covering State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate contests at the ward level. Governorship primaries will follow on May 22, while the presidential primary is slated for May 25.

This will be followed by a National Executive Committee meeting on May 26 and a Special National Convention on May 27, where candidates are expected to receive final approval.

As part of its preparations, the party also introduced a structured fee system for nomination forms across all elective positions.

The cost of the presidential form has been fixed at ₦100 million, governorship at ₦50 million, Senate at ₦20 million, House of Representatives at ₦10 million, and State House of Assembly at ₦3 million.

To encourage broader participation, the ADC announced discounted rates, offering a 50 per cent reduction for youths and a 25 per cent reduction for women and persons with disabilities.

The party urged members, stakeholders, and aspirants to comply fully with the established timetable and guidelines.
